The Sturdy Bridge of Faith

faith Mar 04, 2023

"I'm heading out to grab some lunch," said our friend Josh who ran AV at the retreat. My mind reeled with thoughts of how badly I wished I had some cash right now to hand him. He was sooo kind to give of his time....

At that very moment my friend Vicki walked up and said, "Brenna, I just sold two t-shirts" and handed me a twenty dollar bill.

It was almost one solid movement from her hand to my hand and then my hand to his hand!

This is the perfect example of how every detail for this event has come together, I immediately realized. Just at the time there was a need, it was met.

(And it was the one and only time anyone handed me cash all weekend, even with all the books and t-shirts that sold.)

Though it seemed like a daunting task in October when I felt the Lord leading me to have a Coach Mom Live Retreat, I moved forward in faith and I testify to the Lord's goodness and provision in every way.

I heard Priscilla Shirer the week before talking about how when we step out to obey the Lord, it's like "crossing a sturdy bridge of faith."

That is the perfect description of the support I felt all along this process -- with each new step that could sometimes feel like it was taking my breath away, by the time my foot landed in that place it was a sturdy bridge.

With 75 seats available, we had 68 register and filled the room of the church we were meeting in. So many of you pitched in to lend your talents.

Friday evening the word that kept running through my head was "Awe" and Saturday it was "beyond what I could ask or imagine" -- the Holy Spirit's presence was strong and the mamas connected so quickly.

Priscilla Shirer also said, "Whenever I've just gone along with HIm, He has never failed to show up right on time, giving me exactly what I need. I may not always agree with His plans initially, but I am learning to trust HIm anyway. Keeping a record of our history together continues to buoy my faith in the future." (Discerning the Voice of God, p. 158)

So...what do you feel the Lord is prompting you to do right now?

Is there an idea that keeps coming up but you think surely not, I couldn't do THAT. (Yes, that thing you are thinking about right now!)

I encourage you to step out scared, and allow your foot to land on that sturdy bridge I testified of a few lines up.

One of the most important steps to do this is to learn to listen to God, and write down what He says.

I want to share with you how to create a  prayer journal. (Warning: the video is old and poor sound, but it's worth bearing through.) :) It has been one of the greatest tools, along with the Bible and prayer, that God has used in my life.

So, go for it, girl! And give God the glory as you see His strength shine through in your weakness.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33 (NIV)
