Throwback to Schoolhouse Rock

parenting Jul 03, 2020

Praying you and your family are well in these challenging times.

Our July 4 celebration is tomorrow. While the Declaration of Independence proclaimed to the world that the U.S. is an independent country, the Constitution laid out guidelines and rules on how the country should run or work.

How many believe now might be a real good time to review our Constitutional rights as American citizens? As we focus on America this next week, this would be a great time to share a little about the Constitution with our children: Schoolhouse Rock teaches the Constitution.

Speaking of our nation, we are a mess right now. Our health, government, freedom, even our republic seem to be under attack. God is on His throne, and we must repent and turn back to the Lord. We must be constantly in prayer.

Will you pray with me this prayer?

Dear Father,

We need you. Across our nation, righteous men and women are harder to be found. As a result, cruel and dominating powers have risen, trapping helpless people in the crossfire between violence and crime. We ask You to intervene powerfully on behalf of the suffering. Oppress evil powers which amplify anger and energize greed. Break the cycle of rising revenge and hatred. Rise up, Father God. You are Judge of all the earth. Subdue the dangerous evil that darkens our land. Protect and defend the righteous who dwell in the land. Empower the godly to have keen ears and eyes in this season, and to have the courage and boldness to speak your Truth. May the Holy Spirit sweep our land, and hearts be surrendered fully to you. May new believers spring up, as numerous as grass blades and as powerful as trees. Protect them and cause them to bear much fruit. In these dark days, may we shine with your love and grace. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Praying you and your family are blessed.
